TRAILS TRAILS AND MORE TRAILS
A GENTLE AMBLE, AN INTERMEDIATE JAUNT, OR A CARDIAC CLIMB:
BlueSky at Black Mountain continually surprises visitors and home owners with a trail system connecting all of Black Mountain. The recreational trails meander up Black Mountain Drive past the dedicated viewpoint for the Kopetski Wetlands, past Lund Park, which is home to a hard court with basketball hoop, a child’s play area, and a beautiful rose garden; and a short distance ahead you will see the stairs leading to the Look Out Loop.
Melcor Developments Ltd., the developer of BlueSky at Black Mountain, and the City of Kelowna have partnered to create a spectacular natural trail network on open space lands preserved from development. The trail network traverse hillsides and natural plateaus that showcase the spectacular Okanagan dryland vegetation, rock formations and vistas.
Surprising to many people is Birkdale Park with its entrance off the multipurpose trail, past the clubhouse, perched above the end of Black Mountain Drive. The park is an excellent example of how Melcor Developments Ltd. enjoys partnering with local, provincial and federal governments to create a sustainable community for families of all ages and sizes. Birkdale Park boasts a brand new tennis court; a child’s play area created from durable natural materials using low water-use native plants and at the most eastern point a comfortable lookout viewing the Black Mountain Valley including the 10th green of the Black Mountain Golf Club
